Sexual Discrimination

My little sister calls me up today and tells me about her friend at work who got promoted to an underwriter position, was trained only 7 days and then left to fend for herself. When she made mistakes, she was demoted. The boss told my sister he prefers male underwriters, he thinks the agents prefer to deal with men. They hire a new male underwiter to take her spot, he's been training 30 days now and still hasn't had to do ANYTHING on his own.

The discrimination is admitted and clear. What does my sister's friend do about it? Complain to the boss that these people are "picking on" her. Not that she was the victim of sexual discrimination, not that she has a strong case to sue their asses in court, none of the above. She complains about being picked on.

This is ridiculous. There are laws written to prevent this kind of thing from going on, but my sister's friend seems unwilling to use them. Half the reason women are discriminated against is because they allow it to be done to them. STAND UP FOR YOURSELF, YOU CAN'T EXPECT ANYONE ELSE TO DO IT FOR YOU.

God, if I am ever in that position, please give me the balls to make a big stink and/or go all the way to the courts if necessary about being sexually discriminated against.
