Questions about TV
1. Why is Murder She Wrote always on TV? I have seen this show on television for years, and tried to watch it several times, but I really don't get what's so great about it. They re-run it like crazy on daytime tv, and I wish they wouldn't.
2. Soap Operas? (That's not really a question, but it accurately sums up my feelings) I don't know why anyone would watch badly written, badly acted, badly shot, and badly edited shows, especially for 5 hours a week. Maybe one hour a week, if desperate for something to watch, but five! And some people watch more than one Soap Opera.
3. What is with all the station changes in Canada? For people who don't live here, during prime-time, channels like CTV (kinda like ABC) will switch between numbers on the dial in between shows. Like I might have to watch CTV on 8 at 9:00 but then if the channel stays on 8 after 10:00, it switches to another channel GLOBAL and the CTV programming goes to number 15. Keeping track of which Canadian station is on which numbered channel at what time, and which one is playing which American show (most of the prime time programming is American) is very very very confusing. I totally do not understand why this system is the way it is.
4. Why does Andy Dick looks so much like Martin Short?
5. Instead of playing bad daytime shows during the daytime, why don't networks just re-run their Prime Time lineup from the night before?

1. The good thing about "Murder, She Wrote" is that it's not stupid. Oh, some people may argue that the crimes are easily solvable, but at least it doesn't insult your intelligence. Plus, the whole idea of an amateur sleuth is endearing. "Father Dowling Mysteries" has the same appeal, but in that case (at least in the TV show) they've paired the old priest with the street-smart nun.
2. They watch them to see what happens. The bad part about them is also the good part - they're made every day. If you wanted to watch "Dallas" or "Dynasty" you'd have to wait a week (or all summer if the season had ended).
3. Can't help you there. When I'm in Canada on business, I only see the TV at night.
5. You have to remember that you have different audiences at different times of the day. With some exceptions (such as temporarily unemployed people, or sick people), the people who watch TV at 9 in the morning are different from those who watch at 4 in the afternoon, or 8 in the evening, or 11:30 at night. Most people who watch TV in the day actually LIKE "The View" or "Oprah" or "Dr. Phil"...or "Murder She Wrote."
This also happens in radio, and my daughter's picked up on it. She likes to listen to KIIS FM in the afternoons, but doesn't like to listen to it in the mid-evening when they're playing all that rap stuff. (In my case, the removal of Rick Dees from the airwaves has made KIIS tolerable for me. Seacrest doesn't irritate me like he irritates others.)
